PASS THE DREIDEL: Have about 6 players per team. Have the teams line up side by side, either sitting or standing next to each other (they could hold hands if they wanted to). At one end of the line, place the six Dreidels. With their left hand have each player grab the right wrist of the person to their right. On the mark, teams pass all the Dreidels down and back again. If a bow falls, players must retrieve while still holding on. The chain must not be broken! 6 objects for each team. The winner is the team that passes 6 dreidels down and back first.
Chanukah can be celebrated using a large boxful of letters that should be provided. These letters can be purchased at any toy store or made by the young people themselves by being cut out of newspapers. The children should seat themselves round the table; the letters should then be well shuffled and dealt round to the players. Each child has to form a word or sentence out of the letters that relate to the holiday of Chanukah, which he has received. Another variation is to select a long word, and then in a given time to try to form several words from it. Names of well-known men, places, etc., related to the celebration of Chanukah can also be given. These games are not only amusing, but serve at the same time to instruct adults and children. Party favors and decorations should be used to set the scene for this game based on Chanukah.
Playing this game on Chanukah is a very simple and fun. Each player places a finger on the table, which he must-raise whenever the conductor, there should only be one conductor, of the game says any word or phrase that is related to Chanukah.
If the conductor names any item not related to Chanukah, such as "festival of smoke" and any player thoughtlessly raises his finger, that player must pay a forfeit. If a player omits or forgets to raise his finger when an item related to Chanukah is named, the player must also pay a forfeit. The player that has played the least amount of forfeits should be rewarded with a gift, a prize, or any other party supply item for this celebration of Chanukah.
