WHOSE BALLOON IS BIGGER: This competition is very easy: the participants receive the balloons and begin to blow them up. The player whose balloon bursts is out of the game. The player who blows up the biggest balloon is the winner.
This is a fun game that adults and children can play to celebrate Columbus Day. Children and/or adults form a circle around the room, with hands joined. A "Columbus" is chosen to stand outside the circle, an "America" to stand inside. The players are friends of the America player, and raise their arms to let him under, but keep them down when Columbus tries to get through. The Columbus chases the America in and out of the circle, among desks and over seats, till the "America" is caught, when a new Columbus and America are chosen. Before the new Columbus and America take their positions, the team that just ended their turn has to tell one fact or story related to Columbus Day. This is a fun game that also celebrates Christopher Columbus' discovery of America.
This is a game to play on Columbus Day. Players begin seated at desks. When Columbus commands "Change right," all move one place to right and the right hand row stands. In like manner the command may be "Change front," "Change back," or "Change left." At first it is best to follow each change by the reverse, so as to allow those standing to get seats, but later they may be told that they must run to the vacant seats on the opposite side or end of the room. When each turn is over three chairs are removed from the playing area. When a player fails to sit at a seat they are out of the game. When one chair is left, the player who sits in it first is chosen to act in place of Columbus and therefore becomes the new Columbus. The chairs are arranged, so a new game can begin.
